“My internship with Catholic Charities made me fall in love with non-profit work, which is exactly why I am working as Director of Development at a small non-profit called Shelter Care. In this role, I write grants to bring in money for our programs. Writing policies and procedures for a non-profit is far more rewarding than writing for a for-profit organization. I would have never discovered my love for non-profit work or my talent as a professional writer had I not completed my internship with Catholic Charities.” - Bre Fano
“While I was a senior at John Carroll, I interned at Simple Solutions in Beachwood, where I internalized the concept of crafting my writing for a specific audience. There, I mostly wrote passages for textbook materials designed for fourth graders. Immediately after graduation, I started a job at a local non-profit as a grant writing. While grant writing is significantly different than textbook writing, my time at Simple Solutions taught me the lesson of always being mindful of one’s audience. I use that lesson every day at my job to complete successful grant proposals. Completing the internship was one of the most beneficial of my college years.” - Katie Velecheck
