The Student Health Center provides the John Carroll University community with a comprehensive approach to optimum health and wellness. This is achieved by encouraging skill-building and individual capacities in each unique student while recognizing the impact of social and environmental conditions.

A healthy JCU community is fostered through primary care treatment, education, and evidence-based prevention efforts. This philosophy is rooted within the Jesuit educational tradition in which there is application of learning and developing mature decision-making, inviting students to become self-directed health advocates.

To see the Health Center staff, please visit the center on the lower level of Murphy Hall. For more details on services please see the medical services page.

Mission

To create a community that values the inherent worth of each individual member and works to provide the tools and right environment needed for each person to flourish. We accomplish this primarily through the areas of physical, behavioral, and relational health.

Well-Being

The Office of Health Promotion & Wellness believes well-being is not just the absence of crisis or illness, but the presence of thriving. We utilize the well-being theory created by Dr. Martin Seligman of the University of Pennsylvania for this framework. It focuses on the presence of positive emotions, engagement, positive relationships, meaning, and accomplishment.  To learn more about using the PERMA model in a college setting, visit U-Thrive.
