  • Cleveland is home to fast-rising startups, numerous Fortune 500 companies, government, academic, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations. JCU connects students to world-class research and internship experience in biomedical experimentation, healthcare, IT, educational outreach, marketing, and autism research. We also have a special partnership with the renowned Cleveland Clinic.
  • We coordinate opportunities for students to serve those in need. We partner with several organizations, including those that are actively addressing issues of food and hunger, early childhood development, education, and domestic violence prevention.
  • Located on the shores of Lake Erie, Cleveland is the heart of a thriving metropolitan area. Home to the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, a number of theatre ensembles, including the Cleveland Play House and Great Lakes Shakspeare Festival, dance companies, and a thriving film scene, Cleveland is a cultural magnet. Its lively theatre district at Playhouse Square is the country’s largest performing arts complex outside of New York City. Cleveland is also a sports town, with Major League Baseball (The Cleveland Guardians), NFL Football (the Cleveland Browns), and NBA Basketball (the Cleveland Cavaliers).
  • Cleveland has a large city park system in the U.S. and offers picnicking, hiking, bike trails, horseback riding, winter sports, and more. The Cuyahoga Valley National Park, located between Cleveland and Akron, features a wide variety of natural, cultural, and historical resources.
Every college will promise to prepare you for a career, and John Carroll definitely will too. But that’s where most of them stop. JCU, on the other hand, won’t just make you more employable; it will help you become a better person.

Boler College of Business

As a student in Boler, we’ll help you map out and execute an academic plan so that you’ll graduate with the skills and experience to change the world. Our location in Cleveland means that you’ll have access to alumni and internships throughout the city at places such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Sherwin-Williams, and Akron-based Goodyear. And these internships often lead to jobs.

No matter where technology or industry goes, you’ll be ready to adapt and lead change. Can technology and big data make the world a better place? It may bring greater safety, health, convenience, and economic opportunity, yet it may also be used to produce inequality, discrimination, and violations of privacy. As a computer science, healthcare information technology, or data science major you’ll have plenty of opportunities to gain real-world experience at Fortune 500 companies as well as at start-ups and the Cleveland Clinic. You’ll also explore the complex relationships between data, technology, and society.

The Mike Cleary Program in Sports Leadership focuses on planning, implementation, and leadership across a wide variety of athletic-related careers. We connect students with job shadowing and internship experiences in college and professional sports management, coaching, recreation, administration, and more. Majors in exercise science focus on developing knowledge of human movement and behavior as preparation for graduate school and career opportunities such as fitness, wellness, athletic training, and physical therapy.

John Carroll alumni provide a national network that opens doors for current students and graduates. Many of our alumni are in administrative and coaching positions throughout the NFL, MLB, and the NCAA.

John Carroll looks at entrepreneurship as a way to develop innovative thinking and an enterprising mindset, with a focus on teaching students to recognize opportunities in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations. While academic programs in entrepreneurship were once exclusively business focused, the entrepreneurship minor is available to all students at John Carroll, regardless of major.

The Muldoon Center for Entrepreneurship offers programs such as the Student Hatchery, a unique resource to incubate your idea and bring your product or service to market. This program opens doors for students through hands-on experience with professors and professional entrepreneurs from successful local businesses.
