All women’s and gender studies courses at John Carroll University have as their basis:

  • the examination of diversity and of the consequences of unequal power and opportunity
  • the study of sex-based inequities as they affect primarily women of all classes, races, sexual and ethnic identifications
  • the analysis of issues of social justice and human dignity from a global perspective
  • the creation of strategies for critiquing and changing the existing status of women
  • the encouragement for students to integrate these strategies into their lives
