Please join us on Thursday, September 24, 2015, as the Women’s and Gender Studies Program presents the first in its series, Women’s Lives Yesterday and Today VI. In “The Personal is Political: A Chinese-American Woman’s Success Story,” immigration attorney, Margaret Wong, will speak to her own experiences as an immigrant and how those experiences inform the work of her law firm, Margaret W. Wong & Associates, LLC. The lecture will take place at 11:00 a.m. in Room A202 of the Dolan Center for Science and Technology.
Born in Hong Kong, Margaret Wong traveled to the United States in 1969, where she pursued her undergraduate education, completed her law degree, and passed the State of New York Bar. Founded with one desk and no assistant, Ms. Wong’s law practice now extends from coast to coast and includes six attorneys and 35 other staff members. Among her many accolades, Ms. Wong received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1998 and was inducted into the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
