On Tuesday, January 31, 2017, Karen Posner, a senior Peace, Justice, Human Rights major, officially received the Rev. Dr. Valentino Lassiter “Continuing the Dream” award at the Celebration of Service Awards Banquet in Dolan Atrium. The award was introduced and bestowed by Dr. McGinn, the Chair of the Department of Theology & Religious Studies.  The award honors a JCU student who is continuing the dream shared by the Rev. Drs. Valentino Lassiter and Martin Luther King, Jr. The dream is equality and harmony across racial, ethnic, and religious boundaries while working to foster a nation united in freedom and harmony, with each person being treated with justice and respect.

As part of this award, Ms. Posner will be conducting an art contest and workshop with a focus on indigenous people on Monday, March 27, 2017, 2-6p.m. in the Atrium in the Dolan Center for Science & Technology.
