The Responding to Students in Distress guide is intended to be a resource when you find yourself talking to, or worried about, a student who is having difficulty. Inspired by and adapted from Cornell University’s Recognizing and Responding to Students in Distress and infused with John Carroll University’s own character and Core Values, this guide offers referral information, context to help you recognize what students may be experiencing, and suggestions as to how you might be most helpful.

While the guide’s target audience is faculty, the content can be helped to and adapted for staff use as well.

Thank you for your commitment to our students’ development and well-being.
