The Authorization Code feature lets you unlock, or override the calling restrictions of the on-campus extension you are using to place a call. It will then apply the calling privileges defined for your personal extension via the authorization code. In this way you can place a long distance call and have the charges billed back to your personal office extension.

The feature applies to only one call at a time. The procedure must be repeated for each successive call.

This can be helpful when you have the need to place a call from a local or long distance restricted courtesy phone, or when using a phone in a conference room in another department and not wanting to incur long distance phone charges on their department phone number.

To request a personal Authorization Code, fill out the ITS Services Request Form.

NOTE: Once you request and receive an Authorization Code, you will also receive a card with instructions on how to use your new Authorization Code.
