In commemoration of the first year anniversary of the election of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio as Pope Francis, the Cardinal Suenens Center has invited Father Robert Niehoff, S.J., president of John Carroll University, to speak on the pope as a Jesuit; Father John O’Malley, S.J., author of numerous books including “What Happened at Vatican II?”, to be the Margaret F. Grace Lecturer 2014 on the hope that Pope Francis brings to be world; Natalie Imperitori-Lee to speak on the papacy from the perspective of a Cuban-American woman theologian, mother, and wife; Father Bryan Hehir, Harvard social-scientist, to speak on the influence of the pope on the US social agenda; and Robert Mickens, award-winning journalist and Vatican editor of the British journal, The Tablet, to speak on what still needs to be done in light of all that has been done in one year of Pope Francis’s papacy.
