Students from the Department of Sociology and Criminology have gone on to do graduate work at top universities throughout the United States in criminology, social work and counseling, law, public health, public policy, public administration, education, business, sociology, and anthropology. A partial list of schools our alumni have attended include The University of Michigan, University of Chicago, Loyola University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Columbia University, Boston College, Boston University, University of Florida, John Carroll University, Case Western Reserve University, The Ohio State University, Kent State University, Cleveland State University, and University of Cincinnati.

A number of students have worked for well-known nonprofit organizations such as the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, The Alzheimer’s Association, and the Peace Corps; and governmental agencies such as the FBI, various juvenile courts, probation departments, and a variety of other local law enforcement agencies.

Each year, some graduating seniors elect to do a year of service with organizations that include The Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Jesuit Volunteers International, AmeriCorps, Teach For America, and the Peace Corps.

We also are a participating department in the new Masters of Arts Program in Nonprofit Administration at JCU.
