Make a Difference Day, an annual national day of service, is held the fourth Saturday in October. It is described as a “celebration of neighbors helping neighbors.” The John Carroll community joins millions of others across the country in service to local neighborhoods, organizations, and residents.
The JCU Make a Difference Day project involves a neighborhood collection of donated food in support of the Fatima Famly Center Thanksgiving Food Drive. Volunteers assist with bag distribution throughout University Heights and on-campus solicitations, collecting donations, sorting and repacking food, and delivering donations to Fatima. In combination with other efforts, participants are able to collect enough food to provide more than 100 families with a complete Thanksgiving meal plus a week’s groceries.
