JCU students play an important role in the success of the CSSA at John Carroll University. Over 80 student workers are employed during the academic year to serve as Student Liaisons, Coordinators, and Tutors. Current opportunities include:

Carroll Reads Tutors: Carroll Reads is a federally funded tutoring program aimed at helping children in grades K-6 refine reading and math skills. CSSA has partnered with area parochial and charter schools and the Cuyahoga County Public Library system to develop unique tutoring programs that better meet the needs of their community. St. Martin de Porres High School Tutors:  JCU students work with the Scholars program at St. Martin de Porres High School to provide tutoring in reading, math and science. Tutors work one-on-one with high school students or in small groups to help prioritize assignments, assist with homework, and serve as mentors.  Positions are available Monday-Thursday from 3:30 – 6:00 pm, with two sessions required per week. Student Liaisons: As a CSSA representative, Student Liaisons serve as leaders for the individual service sites. Responsibilities include: participating in the service activity, supporting students in service, representing the CSSA to the community partner, transporting students to and from service sites, ensuring accurate attendance records, and facilitating reflection.
