Mary Beadle has taught at John Carroll since 1994 in the area of electronic media, including media ethics, international media and women in media. Dr. Beadle spent nine years in academic administration between 2000 and 2009. She returned to the classroom in 2009.
Dr. Beadle has published in the areas of international media and media history. She is co-author of the best-selling fourth edition of Broadcast Performance Worktext, published by Focal Press. She is also a contributing author for Media Literacy, 6th edition and Electronic Media: Then, Now and Later, 3rd edition. she has served as chair of both the history and international divisions of the Broadcast Education Association and numerous other leadership positions in professional organizations including the Council of Graduate Schools, National Communication Association and Central States Communication Association. In 2014, she travelled to Russia and participated in a faculty exchange program with Volgograd University sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. That same year, she participated in a faculty exchange program in Ho Chi Mihn City at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University.
