Debate Team Update for 2012-2013 Season

JCU Debate spent spring break at two national championship tournaments.

March 1-4, JCU Debate competed at the Cross-Examination Debate Association Novice/ JV National Championship at Towson University, just outside of Baltimore.

In the novice division, the team of Chris Mitschow and Jeremy Himmelright tied for 9th in the nation with the team of Brigette Mendes and Drew Dockery. Both teams made the elimination rounds, where Mitschow and Jeremy Himmelright lost to Binghamton University and Mendes and Dockery lost to Liberty University. Individually, Chris Mitschow finished 12th.

In the JV division, Emily Stolfer and Noel Massarelli placed 17th, also making the elimination rounds, but losing to Binghamton.

March 8-11, JCU Debate was at the American Debate Association National Championship at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The team of Chris Mitschow and Jeremy Himmelright placed 5th in the nation, losing to Florida University in the quarter finals.

In the JV division, Noel Massarelli placed 5th in the nation individually, while Emily Stolfer placed 10th in the nation individually.

This concludes the debate season. JCU had prepared for these tournaments since June of 2012 and had been competing on the topic since September.
