Dr. Jon Goldsby ’86 received the Distinguished Alumnus Award at the 2013 Physics Department Banquet. Dr. Goldsby is a materials research engineer at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, where he investigates ceramic materials to be used in gas turbine engines, high-temperature solid-oxide fuel cells, and thermoelectrics that convert waste heat from gas turbine engines into electricity to power sensors and devices. He was awarded the Black Engineer of the Year Award in 2012 for his Outstanding Technical Work in Government as well as his outreach to young engineers.
