Ty McTigue

This is Ty’s third year as a member of the JCU Orientation Staff. He is currently a marketing intern at GE Lighting and a tour guide on campus. Ty recently lead a group of students to Nicaragua on a service immersion trip to work with families in poverty, where he learned how to truly live the John Carroll mission of leadership and service. Ty is also an avid participant in the We the People tutoring program. Most times you can find Ty working off some stress in the Corbo Fitness center, praying silently in Saint Francis chapel, or spending some time with his Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers. Matt Ansec

This is Matt’s first year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff. He is a rising junior and is studying Management and Logistics. Matt is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity which he served as the Inter Fraternal Council’s vice president of brotherhood and programming and Greek week chair. He works at JCU intramurals as a referee, and plays intramural football, basketball, and floor hockey. Matt enjoys working out, playing all sports, volunteering in the community, and hanging out with his friends and fraternity brothers. Mary-Kate Begin

Mary-Kate is a junior and this summer will be her second year on the Orientation Staff. Her major is Adolescent/Young Adult English Education and she is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority as well as a recruitment counselor for sorority recruitment in the fall. In January, Mary-Kate traveled with 14 other students to Nicaragua on an immersion trip. She enjoys playing intramural volleyball, skiing, and hanging out with her friends. Emma DiPasquale

This is Emma’s first year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff.  She is a rising sophomore and is studying English.  Emma is a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Carrolline’s , an all-female a capella group on campus.  She is also a member of the Honors Program and works as a consultant in the Writing Center.  She enjoys reading, working out, going to concerts, and spending time with family and friends.  Emma is excited to welcome incoming students to the John Carroll Community, so if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to e-mail her at edipasquale16@jcu.edu.


Lanasia Douglas

This is Lanasia’s first year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff. She is a upcoming sophomore and will be majoring in Psychology. Lanasia is a member of the African American Alliance (AAA) as well as the vice president of John Carroll’s gospel choir. After college, Lanasia plans to go to law school to become an attorney. She enjoys singing, writing, and helping others. Lanasia loves to meet new people so she is looking forward to seeing all of the incoming freshmen this summer. Cortney Freshwater

This is Cortney’s second year as a member of John Carroll’s Orientation Staff, and she cannot wait to work with the incoming freshmen. Cortney is a rising junior and is majoring in Early Childhood Education. She serves as a resident assistant for a Greek floor, and is the Food Bank and NEOCH Representative for the Labre Project. She is heavily involved in other service opportunities and Campus Ministry, while also participating in Relay for Life and Student Union Programming Borad. In her spare time, she loves babysitting, playing sports and being outdoors, listening to music, and goofing off with her friends. Michael Gong

This is Michael’s first year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff.  He is a rising junior and is pursuing a degree in Biology with a minor in Leadership. Michael is an Arrupe Scholar and works closely with the Center for Service and Social Action at many service sites.  His favorite weekly service offered by the Center is the Carroll Ballers program which involves playing basketball at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.  Michael is also a campus tour guide, Student Union Senator, liturgical musician, and involved in multiple intramural sports. He also loves to play guitar with his band, Four Guys Who Love Sax. Steve Henderson

This is Steve’s second year on Orientation Staff.  He is a rising Junior Majoring in Political Science and Economics while minoring in Catholic Studies and History. Steve oversees John Carroll’s 100+ Student Organizations as the Vice President for Student Organizations in Student Union. He is a proud member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, where he serves as the Member Educator. Steve enjoys working as a Tour Guide and serves on the Exec Board of the Student Alumni Association.Steve also serves as a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and was the VP of JCU’s Respect for Life Organization. In his free time he enjoys watching Cleveland sports, hanging out with his friends, and reading. Troy Murphy

 This is Troy’s second year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff. He is a rising senior studying Communications through the Tim Russert Department of Communications. While being a Blue Streak, he is part of the Men’s Club Volleyball Team where I served as Secretary. Also, Troy is a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity where I have held the leadership positions of Housing Manager and Kai Committee representative. He is also a Leadership Scholar at John Carroll as well and studied abroad in London this past fall. Justin Shoemake

This is Justin’s first year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff. He is a rising junior and is studying Marketing/ Business.  Justin Shoemake is a proud member of Seeds of hope, where he serves as a board member for the organization, as well as a positive example for young boys and girls.  He is a participant in the on campus men’s A-Capella group as well as an intramural soccer champion. Mariah White

This is Mariah’s second year on John Carroll’s Orientation Staff. She is a rising junior and a Management Major. Mariah is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, where she is currently serving as Vice President of Academic Excellence. She works at the John Carroll Call Center where she raises money for JCU. Mariah enjoys Pintrest, watching movies, and spending time with her friends and family. Scott Willis

Scott is a rising junior and it is his first year on Orientation Staff. Scott is majoring in Exercise Science with the intention to go into Athletic Training. He is also employed in the Sports Information Office as well as the Office of Admission as a Tour Guide.Scott is  also involved with the Carroll Crazies spirit organization and the Student Alumni Association.
