The Bediüzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies presents:

The Tenth Annual Week of Islamic Art and Culture April 18-20, 2017

All of the events will take place at 7pm in the Donahue Auditorium of the Dolan Science Center on the campus of John Carroll University with light refreshments to follow.

Tuesday April 18: A performance of Sufi music

Wednesday April 19: Fr. Michael Calabria of Director of the Center for Arab & Islamic Studies at St. Bonaventure University will give a talk entitled “Worth the Price: the Necessity of Islamic Art in an Iconoclastic Age.” In this talk, Fr. Calabria will discuss the value of Islamic art as a vital aid to understanding Islamic societies in all their chronological and cultural diversity, uniquely woven from many cultural and confessional strands.
