The Bediüzzaman Said Nursi Chair in Islamic Studies at John Carroll University presents:
Ali Aslan former Washington Correspondent of Turkey’s largest daily newspaper Zaman
“The Rise and Decline of Turkish Democracy. What Went Wrong?”
Mr. Aslan will talk about democratic progress in the yearly years of AKP government under Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the recent authoritarian trajectory of now President Erdogan, and the state of Turkish democracy especially after the failed coup of July 15, 2016. Mr. Aslan will focus the last portion of his talk on implications for US, EU and NATO of the current strongman tilt of Turkish government.
