D.J. Lombardo Student Center, Jardine Room
Melinda Sykes is Director of Children’s Initiatives, and chair of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Ohio Human Trafficking Commission.
The Ohio Attorney General has recently released a report detailing the horrors of an international enterprise that forces children into modern-day slavery. The study cites 13 years old as the most common age in Ohio for youth to become victims of child sex trafficking.
Sykes will discuss how DeWine’s office is investigating and prosecuting these cases. She will also focus on how the public can get involved.
This event is sponsored by John Carroll University’s Center for Service and Social Action and the Arrupe Scholars Program.
