This lecture is open to the public.

The John Carroll chapter of the Ohio Innocence Project presents “Brendan Dassey: A True Story of False Confession.” This event is sponsored by the Ohio Innocence Project and the JCU Department of Political Science.

The featured speaker is Brendan Dassey’s post-conviction attorney, Steven Drizin, who will provide an inside look at the false confession famously featured in the Netflix documentary, Making a Murderer. Professor Drizin uses footage from Brendan’s confession to demonstrate how the psychological techniques commonly used by police during interrogations can produce false confessions especially when used on juveniles.
