John Carroll University’s Boler School of Business presents:

Marybeth Shamrock

Managing Director, KPMG LLP

Thursday, July 14, 2011

5-6:15 p.m.

Boler School of Business / Room 18

This event is free and open to the public.

WHAT:     This forum will center on the status of the convergence projects on which the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the International Accounting Standards Board have been collaborating. In particular, the session will focus on the expected outcomes from the standard-setting projects on revenue recognition, leasing, and financial instruments.

International accounting standards dictate how particular types of transactions and other events should be reported in financial statements.  The goal with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is to make international comparisons as easy as possible. Converging U.S. and IFRS accounting standards has been a long-term process.

This event is sponsored  by the John Carroll KPMG  Professorship in Accountancy.

WHO:             Marybeth Shamrock is a Managing Director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services practice.  Her experience consists of both technical accounting and project management.  Ms. Shamrock spent three years at KPMG Belgium where she was a member of the Belgium Department of Professional Practice.  During this time she gained experience in IFRS.  After returning to the United States, in April 2008, she joined the Accounting Advisory Service practice helping clients understand the impacts of new accounting standards.  Ms. Shamrock has helped companies understand both the accounting and financial reporting changes that will result from a move to IFRS or the implementation of a new accounting standard.
