FA 109C – Cecilia Singers (1 cr.) — (This choir is not offered this year) The Cecilia Singers is a women’s vocal ensemble that explores, prepares and performs a variety of music from both the sacred and secular genres. The choir performs at concerts both on and off campus. Audition required.
FA 109D – University Schola Cantorum (1 cr.) — The Schola Cantorum is a select vocal ensemble that performs sacred and secular literature throughout the academic year. This choir will explore, prepare, and perform music literature from a variety of musical periods spanning chant and polyphony through standard sacred repertoire and contemporary sacred music, popular tunes, madrigals, a cappella, and vocal jazz. The choir sings at major concerts and liturgical celebrations on and off campus, such as the Homecoming and Family Weekend Concert and the Christmas Carroll Eve Concert, as well as special university events throughout the academic year.
FA 109E – University Chapel Ensemble (1 cr.) — The University Chapel Ensemble is a vocal and instrumental group that offers liturgical music for liturgies and prayer services on campus. The ensemble will explore, prepare, and perform sacred and liturgical music literature from a variety of musical styles with a focus on contemporary liturgical and praise songs.
FA 109F – Cantors at JCU (0 cr.) — Cantors are vocalists who regularly lead the singing at worship services and liturgies on campus. A primary focus of the ministry of cantor is to proclaim the psalm through song. Audition is required.
FA 109G – JCU Gospel Choir (0 cr.) — The John Carroll Gospel Choir is a choral ensemble that offers a wide selection of traditional Gospel, Spirituals, and contemporary Gospel praise. Musical performances are held both on and off campus, including JCU’s Martin Luther King celebration.
FA109H – University Chorus (1 cr.) — The University Chorus is a vocal ensemble open to students, faculty, staff and administration. The group will explore, prepare and perform large-scale choral works. The choir will perform on campus.
FA 109J – Carroll Singers (1 cr.) — The Carroll Singers is a vocal ensemble that performs a variety of music. The group will explore, prepare, and perform music literature from several musical styles including Broadway, vocal jazz, popular tunes and Renaissance music. The choir will sing at concerts, such as the Homecoming and Family Weekend Concert and the Christmas Carroll Eve Concert.
