All John Carroll students are invited to participate in the following leadership programs, where they will develop ways to use their many gifts and abilities to meet the many needs of the world around us.
Programs in Tier 1 focus on participating students increasing their levels of self-awareness, better preparing them for leadership experiences. These programs are mainly geared towards first- and second-year students and are offered each fall semester.
Living and Leading
This informal program will help you develop relationships with other students, increase your self-awareness, and enhance your communication skills. Join us in this program that takes place in a family-style setting.
Reading and Leading
Participants will look at children’s literature and meet to discuss concepts from the books and how they apply to their personal lives and approaches to leadership.
Take the Leading Role
Participants will meet to watch movies, discuss the leadership concepts presented in the films, and also reflect on their own leadership style and skills.
Students who completed the “Living and Leading,” “Reading and Leading,” or “Take the Leading Role” programs are eligible to participate in the program in Tier 2, which focuses on the experiences of participating students as members of various groups and how they can influence change as a group member. This program is geared mainly towards first- and second-year students and is offered each spring semester.
Advancing Leadership will build off of the things discussed in the Tier 1 programs and move you farther along the leadership path by expanding the focus beyond yourself and into your role as a member of the various groups in your life. Join us in this program that takes place in a family-style setting.
Third- and fourth-year students who completed both the Tier 1 and 2 programs are eligible to participate in the program in Tier 3, which focuses on the experiences of participating students as group leaders. This program is offered each fall semester.
Sharing Your Strengths
Sharing Your Strengths will build off the knowledge gained in Tier 1 & 2 programs and provide students the opportunity to consider how they can best apply their natural strengths and talents to common leadership challenges.
