Center for Student Diversity & Inclusion

Professional Staff

Danielle Carter, M.A.

Welcome to the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion. I am so happy you decided to check us out and find out more about the Center, our programs and services. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Southeast Missouri State University, where I completed my graduate work as well. I also earned a M.A. in Guidance and Counseling with an emphasis in Student Affairs. In doing this work, I learned that education is of great importance and opens up so many doors allowing me to achieve my goals.

I am looking forward to creating a campus culture of openness, acceptance, and helping to create the student voice of the University. I enjoy working with all constituencies of the University community but my real passion is working with students. I cannot explain the depth of the satisfaction I get when I work with students and observe the growth and development they experience during their time on campus. It is extremely fulfilling for me. I view this as my life’s work and hope to create a change in the world, one student at a time.

The Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion is here to serve every student on campus. There is a much-needed emphasis on programming to provide support for students from underrepresented populations but everyone has a role in creating an inclusive community. Therefore, the office is here for everyone. We offer opportunities to explore a wide variety of topics and issues. I am open to all ideas and input so if you have concerns or ideas for programs please contact us and we can discuss how to address the topic and move forward.

I’m looking forward to a great year and hope to hear from many of you who have visited this page.

Salomon (Salo) Rodezno, M.Ed.

Assistant Director

Hola! My name is Salo and I am the Assistant Director for the Center for Student Diversity and Inclusion.  I’m originally from Los Angeles, California and I earned my M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Vermont.  Before coming to John Carroll, I worked as an Academic Advisor at Champlain College.  Now as a member of the Cleveland community, I serve in several exciting roles: I’m a trainer on the Educational Training Team for the North-East Ohio Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network.  I am also the Director of Project QUE: a science-immersion program for middle school Latino students in the greater Cleveland area.  I also co-instruct the College of Art and Science’s Film in Cleveland course in the Spring semester.

Nationally I’m a member of the National Association for Multicultural Education and a graduate of the Social Justice Training Institute.  I’m a fierce believer in empowering students to use their gifts and voice to create the change they want to see on campus and their communities.  I earned my BA in Visual Arts from the University of California San Diego.  Talk to me about your success at the University; whether you have questions about your courses, advisors, academic deans, tutoring, careers, counseling, etc. I can get you connected!

Carol Link

Administrative Assistant

It is a pleasure to be member of the staff at the Center. As administrative assistant, I am usually the first contact you have with our office and I feel this is a very important role. My goal is to assist you in any way I can.

I am originally from Ohio but spent most of my early adult years in California after receiving my bachelor’s degree in History from the University of California Los Angeles. After graduating I stayed on at UCLA and worked in Student Affairs for close to 15 years before moving back to Ohio with my family. I have three children in college.

I feel very fortunate to be working with Danielle and Salo and assisting them in any way I can to help you achieve your goals at John Carroll University. I wish you all the best in your academic success.
