John Patton is a native Clevelander, and has been an adjunct professor in the History Department since 1986. He holds a doctorate in European history from the University of Notre Dame. His primary interests are European cultural history and English history. In recent years, he has taught courses on famous European trials, Victorian Crime and Vice, 20th Century Independence movements in the British empire, European Racism, and Death in Western Culture. He is a retired civil servant, having worked in budget for the Department of Defense for 25 years.
