Andreas Sobisch, Ph.D., Director (

Dr. Sobisch became the director of the Center for Global Education in August of 2005. Prior to that he taught for 15 years in the Political Science Department. He is a native of Hamburg, Germany, and first came to the United States as an undergraduate student. He has accompanied John Carroll students on study tours abroad on several occasions.

David Kleinberg, Ph.D., Assistant Director (

Dr. Kleinberg has been the assistant director of the Center for Global Education since January 2012. He has previously worked in international education at Binghamton University, and was a faculty member at Winthrop University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He studied abroad in Dresden and Regensburg, Germany, taught English as a Fulbright Scholar in Austria, and conducted sociolinguistic field research in Austria. He is responsible for student advising and applications for outgoing study abroad and exchange students, for incoming exchange students, and for the technical operations of the department.

Kathy Schiffer, Secretary (

Mrs. Schiffer joined the Center for Global Education in the fall of 2006. She is responsible for administrative duties for the department and serves as the secretary to the director and assistant director. Kathy studied in Japan and was a student ambassador to Germany. Since coming to John Carroll Univeristy, she has accompanied students to London on several occasions.
