In order to be a member of the John Carroll University Emergency Medical Services (EMS), students must have EMR or EMT-Basic certification as well as sign up for at least one week-day shift and one weekend shift every third weekend. Shift information can be found here.
Training days and monthly department meetings are mandatory for all members. The training days can also be used as continuing education credit, which can be used for recertification. This is necessary in order to maintain national and Ohio EMT-Basic and CPR certification. In order to receive a partial refund for the course, at least two semesters must be served. Lastly, all members must follow Standard Operating Procedures on shift and represent the department well at all times.
