Upscale Science Grades 3-5
“UPCYCLE” 1) The process of converting discarded materials into new products of better quality, or with higher environmental value, 2) Teaching kids science with found materials!
Ohio State Standards Grades 3-5: Explain how the supply of many non-renewable resources is limited and can be extended through reducing, reusing and recycling but cannot be extended indefinitely.
Model REDUCING, REUSING and RECYCLING in your classroom while teaching complex scientific concepts by UPSCALING – Teaching children science with found materials!
Learn how to meet science objectives and effectively teach complex scientific concepts using discarded 2-liter bottles – build and launch bottle rockets, demonstrate geysers, crate tornadoes and vortexes, formation of clouds, insect traps, and bird feeders just to name a few. Make learning science fun while modeling effective environmental practices!
Rather than recycling or discarding items like cardboard, 2-liter bottles, and plastic containers, UPSCALE these items by reusing them in your science classroom. Science comes alive while you and your students model using the Earth’s resources over and over again.
