Undergraduate research has become a critical component of the modern chemistry curriculum. The JCU chemistry department has developed a very active undergraduate research program, and opportunities for paid summer research internships are offered through various individual and University grants.
JCU students participating in research have matured considerably with respect not only to chemistry, but also to career goals. In addition, prospective employers, as well as graduate and professional school committees, look favorably upon undergraduate research. Students who conduct research present the results at a seminar held each semester. Often, undergraduate research leads to publication in chemistry journals.
