This seminar will provide you with the tools to prepare and present a case at trial. Designed for new lawyers to learn basic trial skills, this seminar is for all lawyers wishing to have a baseline in trial practice. This CLE covers topics from start to finish, including Case Startup, Case Analysis, Discovery & Pretrials, Status Conferences, Settlement, Trial Prep & Jury Instructions, Opening & Closing, Direct, and Expert Witnesses & Evidentiary Issues.


James R. Eisenberg, PhD, ABPP, has been working as a forensic psychologist since 1979. He is the author of Law, Psychology and Death Penalty Litigation (Professional Resource Press, 2004). Dr. James Eisenberg is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology. He recently retired from Lake Erie College where he taught for 35 years, served as Associate Dean for Social Science, Professor of Psychology, and Director of the Criminal Justice Program.

Jonathan Greenberg is head of the litigation department at the Cleveland law firm of Walter | Haverfield. Experienced in all phases of the litigation process, he represents a broad range of business, municipal, and private clients. Jon is the Law Director and Prosecutor for the Village of Cuyahoga Heights and the prosecutor for the cities of Pepper Pike and Richmond Heights. He is also an adjunct Associate Professor of Trial Practices at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Law & Politics magazine has honored Jon as an Ohio Super Lawyer.

Terrance Kenneally is an AV-rated insurance defense attorney and the President of his firm located in Rocky River, Ohio. Admitted to the Ohio Bar, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and the United States Supreme Court, he has tried over 400 jury trials in over 30 counties in the state of Ohio during his legal career, with emphasis on Trial Litigation. He has written articles for Ohio Lawyer Magazine, “Taking a Look at Animal Liability Law in Ohio” and “Dogged Liability.” Mr. Kenneally is a frequent speaker at claim seminars and has lectured on a variety of topics for CLE programs. He has been recognized for five consecutive years as an Ohio Super Lawyer.

Jay Milano is a trial attorney with an emphasis on complex cases, civil and criminal. He has tried multiple murder cases, including those that called the death penalty, to not guilty verdicts. He has been equally successful in all types of cases, from complex federal prosecutions to civil verdicts in excess of $1,000,000.00. His clients range from Judges and Lawyers and Doctors- to members of the Hells Angels and Outlaws- to Snoop Dog- and to everyday people who just need help. He has taught Trial Tactics at Case Western University School of Law and serves on the Rocky River Board of Education. He is the Founding President of The Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and Former president of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association and the Cuyahoga Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He has chaired a certified grievance committee and is currently the Ethics Chair of OACDL.
