The Core Curriculum is the foundation of a liberal arts education at John Carroll University and emphasizes development of the whole person through coursework in the humanities, social sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, philosophy, and religious studies. Through the Core, students grow in critical expression and scholarly investigation; they discover the interrelationship of all knowledge and the interdependence of all peoples.

Faculty should be familiar with the Core Curriculum document and the Core Curriculum criteria.

Faculty proposing courses for core designation (for divisional credit or for status as writing-intensive, international, or diversity courses) should submit the Course Approval form. (Clicking the link will download a Microsoft Word document to your computer.)
