The John Carroll University community is invited to participate in a crisis mapping training session on Wednesday, April 10, from 5 to 7:30 p.m., in the Situation Room (Dolan East 240). The session will be led by political science professors Jen Ziemke, Ph.D., and Colin D. Swearingen, Ph.D., who will provide an overview of basic techniques and tools used in crisis mapping.

Crisis mappers leverage technology to present and analyze real-time reports from people “on the ground” in humanitarian emergencies. That information helps first responders and other key personnel make decisions and take action more effectively during crises. (Learn more about crisis mapping in this John Carroll University magazine article.)

Registration for the session is required, as space is limited. Please note that participants are asked, if possible, to bring a laptop computer.
