Rodney Hessinger

Rodney Hessinger became the Interim Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in June of 2023.  He had previously served as Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Director of the Integrative Core Curriculum, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.  Prof. Hessinger came to JCU in 2014, after having served as Associate Dean and Professor of History at Hiram College for 14 years.  A scholar of the early American republic, he recently published a book on the sexual dynamics of religious revivalism in the early nineteenth century entitled Smitten: Sex, Gender, and the Contest for Souls in the Second Great Awakening.
