Here at John Carroll University, the Humanities work together to illuminate people both as individuals and as members of wider societies and cultures. By inspecting the recorded work of humanity across the dimensions of time and space, we will better understand how people process and organize their world. We encourage students in their pursuit of the Humanities, for these disciplines can develop important critical thinking skills, while also opening a wide range of career opportunities. The Humanities at JCU include the following departments and programs: English, History, Philosophy, Communications and Theatre, Classical & Modern Languages & Cultures, Theology & Religious Studies, Art History & Humanities, Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies and Catholic Studies.
In our humanities article database section, we have collected a range of articles which demonstrate the important role that the Humanities play in our world and how students might use the Humanities to pursue their career goals.
