Spanish major and senior Ovidiu Breahna has been named the winner of the 2015 Student Ambassador of the Year Award of the campaign Study in Spain (SiS), which is overseen by this Embassy of Spain-Trade Commission.
Ovidiu recently received his official notice from Inmaculada Gutierrez, Trade Commissioner-Miami, from the Embassy of Spain in the United States located in Coral Gables, Florida. The Embassy of Spain-Trade Commission Miami gives this award to the student who has managed to accumulate the most SIS POINTS via global computing.
Ovidiu has been invited to Washington DC on January 21, 2016 for the award presentation event, hosted by the Ambassador of Spain in the United States, recognizing his dedication to the program during the year.
The award also includes the prize of a 7-days trip to Spain sponsored by ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones.
As a SiS Student Ambassador, students have the opportunity to develop their organizational capacity and leadership, while developing an activity that can be well worth adding value to their resumé. Student Ambassadors receive an official participation certificate issued by the Embassy of Spain-Trade Commission, recognizing their work and dedication in the program.
Ovidiu is a Spanish and Biology double major, currently working on his Honors Thesis on the topic of the great Spanish literary figure, Cervantes. His thesis advisors are Dr. Megan Thornton and Mr. Michael Khoury. Second reader is Dr. Enrique Luengo. Ovidiu is from Brooklyn, OH. He is the President of HSA (Honors Student Association) and La Hora del Café (Spanish Club).
