Spring Retreat: February 22-23, 2014
This overnight IGNATIAN LEADERSHIP retreat provides an opportunity for current and emerging student leaders to reflect on qualities, characteristics and practices of effective leaders within the Ignatian tradition. In his book Heroic Leadership, Chris Lowney identifies four core leadership pillars that contributed to the success of Jesuits over 450 years: self-awareness, ingenuity, love, and heroism. The Guidance Retreat invites students to explore these themes as they relate to leadership experiences at Carroll and beyond. The retreat incorporates large and small group discussion, communal and individual prayer and reflection, as well as opportunities for informal conversation.
This retreat is by invitation only. Campus Ministry staff nominate student leaders to participate in the program. Letters of invitation will be sent at the beginning of the semester. The retreat is coordinated by Mr. Jimmy Menkhaus, ’03, ‘05G, and other local young alumni participate as presenters. The retreat is usually held at Carrollodge. A $20 registration fee helps to defray the costs of food and materials.
