In the Roman Catholic tradition, there are many specific Catholic devotions, including some of the most well known: the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Angelus, Stations of the Cross, the Rosary, Liturgy of the Hours, Novenas, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Devotions have a long history in the Catholic church and have been described In the New Dictionary of Theology as “the feeling side of Christian faith.”
At John Carroll students lead devotional prayer at various times during the year. Once a month students gather for praise and worship music, sometimes with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This is called Festival of Praise. See the ebulletin for upcoming dates.
Alpha Omega is the Catholic devotional student group on campus. Contact Sam Weinandy for more information.
